First Academy’s 1st Grade recently had a visitor all the way from California!  Luke Rudd’s friend, Emma, mailed herself to Douglas to see what life in Georgia was all about.

Emma Vangelisti is 7-years-old and lives in West Hills, California with her parents and sister.  She is in the 1st grade at Pamleo Community Charter.  Her class read the book, Flat Stanley.  In the book, Stanley was an ordinary boy whose life suddenly changed when a bulletin board fell on him and flattened him.

The book tells of his many adventures, including being sent through the mail to his friends.  While there, he would learn about different parts of the country and then mail himself back home.  Emma’s class is learning about different parts of the United States, and she mailed herself to Georgia!

Flat Emma enjoyed being at school with Luke and especially liked the music class with Mr. B.J. Holliday.  She also got to farm with Luke’s Uncle Ted and go on a trip with Luke’s sister, Bailey, to Washington, D.C.  Flat Emma will be mailed back shortly with all sorts of pictures about her adventures while visiting Luke.

Luke is the son of Chris and Gail Rudd and enjoys attending First Academy in Douglas.
