February is big month for livestock shows

The Coffee County Swine Boosters Club will be hosting the County Market Hog Show for 4-H, FFA, and Pre-club students at 11 AM on Saturday, February 13. The show will be held in the Billy Walker Livestock Facility at Coffee Middle School.
The State Market Hog Show will be held in the New South Arena at the Georgia National Fairground in Perry. Weigh in of pigs will begin on Wednesday, February 17, with showmanship classes on Thursday, February 18, barrow classes on Friday, February 19, and gilt classes on Saturday, February 20.
Coffee County 4-H members with animals registered for the shows include: Ambrose Elementary: Dani Carter, Anna Leigh Smith, and Collin Wilson; Berrien County Elementary: Halleigh Deal; Broxton Elementary: Nora Taylor White; Citizens Christian Academy: Sam Ables; Coffee Middle School: Jake Grantham; Home School: Jamilee Vickers and Sara Vickers; Indian Creek Elementary: Maddie Rae Stodghill and Gage White.

STEER & HEIFER SHOW PARTICIPANTS
The Coffee County Cattle Boosters will be hosting the County Heifer and Market Beef Cattle Show for 4-H and FFA students at 11 AM on Saturday, February 27. The show will be held in the Billy Walker Livestock Facility at Coffee Middle School.
The State Heifer and Market Beef Shows will begin with check-in on Wednesday, February 17. The shows will then be held on Thursday, February 18, through Saturday, February 20 in the Sutherland Arena.
Coffee County 4-H members with animals registered for the Market Beef Show include: Broxton Elementary: Maggie McIver and Nora Taylor White; and Wiregrass Career Academy: Taylor Medders. 4-H members in the Heifer Show include: Broxton Elementary: Nora Taylor White; and Wiregrass Career Academy: Taylor Medders.

JUNIOR/SENIOR DPA UPDATE
DPA dates will be changed from the previously set dates of January 29-31 to later in the year. The proposed options are either a regular DPA held on May 31-June 2 at Rock Eagle, or virtual demonstrations with some type of face to face celebration during the May 31-June 2 time frame, or all virtual. State Congress dates are July 20-23 in Atlanta or virtual if necessary.
Speeches can be up to twelve minutes long and projects cover a wide variety of topics. There are also performing arts and cooking projects to choose from.
Call the 4-H office today to sign up for an appointment to work on perfecting your presentation. 4-H staff members will be happy to help you get started and answer any questions you have as you work on your presentation.
Senior DPA participants include Ashton Ates, Sophie Bird, Jeremiah Brantley, Nathan Cooper, Amelia Crockett, Kilee Davis, Terryanna Harris, Hayden McDonald, Muskan Minhas, Glenn O'Steen, Alexandra Rivero, Destiny Russ, Ishika Sadarangani, Austin Strickland, Justin Strickland, Janilla Warren, Sariah Wells, and Carlee Woods. Junior DPA participants include Devin Bohannon, Kayden Davis, May Belle Davis, Jake Grantham, Brianna Moreno, Florence Shealy, and Caroline Spivey.
BLACK HISTORY MONTH ARTWORK CONTEST
Coffee County 4-H members are encouraged to create and submit artwork for the Black History Month Artwork Contest. Rules are that the artwork must be your original creation, must be drawn on plain white 8 ½ by 11 inch paper, artwork may be black and white or color, and submitted no later than 4 pm on Friday, February 26, to the Coffee County 4‑H office. First place prizes will be given in each age group to Cloverleaf, Junior, and Senior 4-H members. Student's aame and school should be written on the back of the submission.
