The Coffee County School System is closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and is working with local, state, and federal officials to stay informed about the progress of the disease.

On Tuesday, March 3, Dr. Morris Leis, Superintendent and the district’s nurse supervisor, Kathy Cole, met with all administrators in the district to discuss the coronavirus and additional steps that are being taken for the safety of students and staff to prevent the spread of germs.

Examples include providing disposable wipes in all classrooms and offices along with sanitized soap for frequent handwashing, routinely cleaning touched surfaces such as computer keyboards, desks, door knobs, light switches and counter tops as well as disinfecting the seats of school buses several times per day.

The school district has also sent flyers to parents through Peachjar and Kinvo concerning information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that addresses specific facts about the virus with precautionary steps that can be taken within your household.

The Coffee County School System is fortunate to have school nurses on every campus that are continually in the forefront addressing the medical needs of students. As always, the school system is committed to the safety and well-being of our students and will continue to follow guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Georgia Department of Education.
