Wallace Newell, 62, of Ambrose, has been arrested after Broxton police officers found methamphetamine in his truck during a traffic stop.
On February 14, a Broxton police officer reported that he saw Newell driving through town without a seatbelt on. The officer stopped Newell at Alabama Street and the Broxton-Fitzgerald Highway. During the stop, the officer reported that Newell appeared anxious and nervous.
The officer called a K9 unit to assist and the dog alerted on the vehicle. Officers found a bag of a substance inside the truck that, according to the report, Newell stated was methamphetamine. Newell was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, driving with a suspended license, and seatbelt violation.
He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and released on an $8,610 property bond.
