A fight inside a moving vehicle led to a variety of charges, including battery and illegal drug charges.
According to an incident report obtained from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, a detective saw a man and a woman fighting inside a vehicle traveling on Bowens Mill Road on May 11. The detective stopped the vehicle, a white Chevy Malibu, at the intersection of Highway 441 South and Bowens Mill Road Southeast.
During the stop, the female victim stated that the male, identified as Brandon Kyle Durden, 36, of Fitzgerald, was tired and mad with because she left money at home to buy drinks from a store. As a result, he started hitting her on the side of her head and face.
The victim’s story matched what the detective has seen and he arrested Durden. During the arrest, the officer found a small amount of methamphetamine in Durden’s pockets, the report states. The officer also found two needles inside Durden’s backpack in the car along with several plastic bags that contained methamphetamine residue.
Durden was charged with battery (family violence), possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and two counts of possession and use of drug related objects. He remains in the Coffee County Jail.
