Alma PD makes multiple arrest on drug charges

Sunday, April 1, the Alma Police Department arrested Michael Overstreet, 32 of Alma, for financial transaction card fraud. Overstreet’s arrest followed the illegal use of another’s debit card at Pizza Hut on March 31.

Also, on Sunday, April 1, APD arrested Jacqueline Simms, 53 of Alma, on outstanding warrants for terroristic threats and acts. Simms’s arrest followed a March 17 incident at which time Simms was witnessed threatening to kill another.

Sunday evening, April 1, APD responded to the 500 block of E. 14th St. regarding someone who had been severely beaten. Officers discovered Travion White of Alma had received significant trauma to his facial area which required White to be transported by EMS to a trauma center in Savannah. APD is currently investigating the incident.

Monday, April 2, APD arrested Ericka Shunae Billups, 32 of Alma, for criminal trespass. Billups’s arrest followed a 911 call to the 300 block of E. 5th St where Billups busted an exterior home window.

Tuesday, April 3, APD stopped a vehicle on S. Pierce St. following a 911 call regarding a reckless driver. APD arrested Aaron Thrift, 24 of Blackshear, for DUI and failure to maintain lane.

Tuesday night, April 3, APD arrested Shonterria Lashondra Williams, 21 of Alma, for driving with a suspended license and an equipment violation.

Wednesday, April 4, APD’s Crime Suppression Unit stopped a vehicle on E. 16th St. for a traffic violation. Danielle Parisienne, 21 of Douglas, was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Wednesday evening, April 4, APD stopped a vehicle on E. 19th St. for multiple traffic violations. Scottie Kim Scott, 47 of Alma, was arrested for possession of a schedule IV controlled substance-Tramadol, driving with a suspended license, improper lane change, and failure to signal.

Also, on Wednesday evening, April 4, APD’s Crime Suppression Unit stopped a vehicle on W. 12th St. for an equipment violation. Rodney Sears, 45 of Nicholls, and William White, 44 of Alma, were both arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of methamphetamine. Officers seized methamphetamine, Suboxone, and two rifles. White is currently on parole for an unrelated offense.

Friday afternoon, April 6, APD served a search warrant at 216 W. 17th St. following a brief investigation. Officers located methamphetamine packaged for sale, cocaine, and marijuana. Codie Taylor, 20 of Alma, and Crystal Barton, 31 of Alma, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.

Saturday evening, April 7, APD arrested La Genia Stewart, 60 of Alma, for criminal trespass and obstruction of law enforcement officers. Stewart’s arrest followed a 911 call to Stewart Drive where Stewart busted the window of a car occupied by the victim and an infant child.
