Chick-fil-A Douglas, located at Peterson Ave. South off U.S. Highway 441, is slated to open for business on Thursday, Nov. 12. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Matt Baker as the franchise owner of the newest Chick-fil-A restaurant in Douglas. Baker will oversee day-to-day activities of the business, employing approximately 110 full- and part-time Team Members, cultivating relationships with local organizations and neighboring businesses and serving Guests. Chick-fil-A Douglas is located at 1305 Peterson Ave. South and will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

At Chick-fil-A, safe service is our first priority. As states begin to ease restrictions on the closure of local businesses, new Chick-fil-A restaurants will take additional time to review operations and ensure the necessary precautions are in place to protect Guests and Team Members before opening their dining rooms. In the meantime, Chick-fil-A Douglas will open for drive-thru and mobile curbside only, with third-party delivery available via DoorDash shortly after the opening. Guests can also take advantage of contactless ordering and payment through our mobile app.

In place of the traditional Chick-fil-A First 100 Grand Opening celebration, Chick-fil-A Douglas will be providing free Chick-fil-A meals for a year to 100 local heroes making an impact in Douglas. Additionally, the Chick-fil-A Foundation has partnered with Feeding America to donate $25,000 to support local communities for every new restaurant opening. To aid in the fight against hunger, this donation will go toward organizations in Douglas that are doing good work to care for others.

Chick-fil-A Douglas is locally owned and operated by Matthew "Matt" Baker, a Douglas native whose family has lived in the area for generations. Growing up, Baker and his family would often plan trips to visit their closest Chick-fil-A restaurant, which happened to be an hour away.

Baker started his career with Chick-fil-A as a Restaurant Team Member when he was 16 years old at Chick-fil-A Fayetteville Dwarf House in Fayetteville, Ga. He continued serving as a Team Member at Chick-fil-A West Cobb when he was a Kennesaw State University student. After a successful 14-year career in medical sales, Baker was looking for an opportunity to make a difference in his community and applied for the Chick-fil-A franchisee selection process. In 2020, his hard work paid off, and he was selected to become the franchise owner of the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Douglas.

Baker and his wife have three children and value spending quality time with their family. He is very active and likes camping, fishing and woodworking. Baker also has a passion for sports, so you can find him cheering on his favorite sports teams or playing almost any sport in his free time.

"My wife and I have deep, generational roots in the Douglas community, and we can't wait to serve our neighbors through this new restaurant," said Baker. "We are overjoyed to serve and partner with our hometown with the opening of Chick-fil-A Douglas and look forward to making a positive impact in the lives of our Team Members and beyond the four walls of the restaurant."

Chick-fil-A is known for hiring, developing and retaining top talent, and providing a great work environment for people of all ages and backgrounds. Each Chick-fil-A restaurant offers flexible hours, competitive pay and benefits, opportunities for leadership growth, hands-on training and mentoring by the restaurant owner and college scholarships. As with all Chick-fil-A restaurants, Team Members are guaranteed Sundays off.

Nearly everything on the Chick-fil-A menu is made from scratch daily, including salads made from fresh vegetables and fruit that is hand-chopped throughout the day. The lemonade is made from three simple ingredients: lemon juice, sugar and water.
