Mrs. Mary Joan Thompson, age 75, of West Green, passed away early Thursday morning, August 13, 2015, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. She was born January 23, 1940 to the late Patrick Coughlin and the late Nellie Shaffer Coughlin.
Mrs. Thompson, a native of Fayette County, West Virginia, was a Seamstress with a local Sewing Factory. She had been a resident of Shady Acres Health & Rehabilitation Center for the past 2 years. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the New Life Christian Worship Center.
Survivors include: 1 Son: Patrick (Sherry) Thompson of Douglas, Ga.;2 Daughters: Tammy (Rob) Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., and Shirley Garlo of Lawtey, Florida.; 1 Brother: John Jones of Bags, Wyoming.; 4 Sisters: Rosa Jones of Colorado ; Shirley Kay Jones, Betty Jones, and Phyllis Martin, all of Kentucky.; 3 Grandchildren: Amber Leverette of Ambrose, Ga. ; Shandi Thompson of Waycross, Ga.; and Will Thompson of Douglas, Ga.; Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives.
Graveside Services and Interment were held Sunday, August 16, 2015, at 3:00 P. M., at the Calvary Full Gospel Tabernacle Cemetery, near West Green, with Rev. Victor Gilbert and Rev. Kevin Bounds officiating. Active Pallbearers were: Ricky Pinson, Al Merritt, Joey Aldridge, Austin Vaughn, Jeff Evans, and Stevie Lewis. A Special Musical Selection, “Amazing Grace”, was presented at the Graveside, by the Soloist, Melinda Gilbert.
Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
