Mrs. Eldon Lorene Ussery Lewis, age 95, of Broxton, GA passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at her residence. Mrs. Lewis was born on October 6, 1922 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Isaac Samuel Ussery and Dollie Perry Ussery.
Mrs. Lewis was a long time member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church, where she taught the Youth Sunday School Class for 40 years. She loved and enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and provided a loving home for all her family. She was loved by many.
Survivors include: daughter, Betty Ann Sturgis Ford of Broxton, GA.; granddaughters: Tara and husband Allen Jernigan, Trinni and husband Ben Amiot and Tiffani and husband Mark Crosby; great-grandchildren: Elisabeth Jernigan, Emily Jernigan, Elijah Jernigan, Sidney Crosby, and Bobby Crosby; nephews and nieces: Gene and his wife, Dianne Ussery, David and his wife Cheryl ussery, Sammy ussery, Alfred and his wife Betty Jean Lewis, Wanda James, Ronnie and his wife Janice Lewis, Chris and his wife Margaret Lewis, Debi and her husband Charlie Lott, Vicky Lynn Lewis, Ricky Lewis and Rhonda Rentz. She was preceded in death by: husband, Ansil R. Lewis; mother, Dollie Perry Ussery; father, Isaac Samuel Ussery; brother: Gene Ussery and sister-in-law, Peggie Ussery.
Graveside Services were held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 3 p.m at Reedy Branch Church Cemetery where Dr. Jason Bland, Rev. Den Weniger officiated. Gene Ussery presented the Eulogy. Phillip Jowers led the congregation in “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”. Wendell Sturgis gave the closing prayer. Active pallbearers were: John Harry Dockery, J. W. Dockery, Joel Auger, Chris Lewis, Ricky Lewis, Ronnie Lewis, Alfred Lewis,Wendell Sturgis, and Thomas Wayne Anderson. Interment followed at Reedy Branch Church Cemetery.
