Bessie W. Pharis, age 97, of Ocala, Florida formerly of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018, in Ocala, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Pharis was born on February 27, 1921, in Coffee County, Georgia the daughter of the late Jim Wilkerson and Nancy Metts Wilkerson.
She worked as a beautician and was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pharis was preceded in death by: her husband, John “Paul” Pharis; son, Glenn L. Pharis; and a granddaughter, Felicia Burchette.
Survivors include: her son, Benny Pharis and wife Lora Ann of Jasper, GA; daughters: Judy Burchette and husband Bill of Sharpsburg, NC and Kay Clark and husband Ron of Ocala, FL; grandchildren: Brandi Pharis West of Douglas, GA, Jonathan Pharis of Brooklyn, NY, Tyler Pharis of Brooklyn, NY, Amanda Pharis of Jasper, GA, Paul Burchette of Raleigh, NC, James Burchette of Rocky Mt. NC, Amber Pharis Shrewsbury of Riverside, FL and Bonnie Pharis McKee of Ruskin, FL; great-grandchildren: David, Danny ,Kenny, Jett, Dallas and Madyson; great-great-grandchildren: David and Amberlyn
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. at College Avenue Baptist Church where Rev. Mark Mercer officiated. Interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
