Mrs. Betty Jean Malphus Davis, age 83 of Douglas, passed away late Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Malphus was born August 27, 1935 to the late Carl Malphus and the late Elizabeth “Lizzie” Story Malphus. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Davis, Sr., a son, Anthony Davis, and four siblings, Ancil Malphus, Leroy Malphus, Marie Vickers, and Jerry Malphus.
Mrs. Malphus was a homemaker. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary and Bushnell Chapel Church.
Survivors include: Sons Michael Gene Davis and his wife Hazel of Sparks, John Davis and his wife Christine, and Freddie Davis, Jr. and his fiancée Gail Jowers, all of Douglas; daughter Brenda Spires and her husband Fred of Fitzgerald; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be Saturday morning, October 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Gardner and Rev. Cliff Kirkland officiating. The interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, October 12, 2018, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ricketson Funeral Home.
