Mrs. Mary Wanda Denning, 77 years old, was born on April 23, 1942 in Atkinson County to the union of the late Mr. Frank and Mrs. Annie Douglas, whom proceeded her in death.
On June 28, 2019, our Lord called Mary Wanda Denning home to rest, for we all know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Mary attended Paulk Elementary School and Carver High School. She enjoyed working at Douglas Foods and Lumber City Nursing Home where she was known for her loving, dedicated care as a CNA. All loved her. She enjoyed spending time with her grand kids, family, and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Lewis Denning Jr.; children, Larry (Shtasha) Douglas of Covington, Ga. and Gwenda Ross of Douglas; grandchildren Kimberly (Patrick) Douglas, Adrek (Melodie) Douglas, Demond Ross, Rodriquiez Douglas, Shemeeka (Demorio) Parker, Shanterri Rogers, Wesley Harvey Jr, DeWante’ Douglas, and DeWayne’ Douglas; great grandchildren Jaquavious Douglas, Jaquavious Simpkins, Jakari Smith, Treyveon Ross, JaShon Poole, La Daijah Douglas, Yazmin Douglas, Ty’Quez Morris, Adrianna Douglas, Aden Douglas, Arianna Douglas, Dominic Douglas, Alonzia Johnson, and Alexandria Douglas; brothers Johnny Douglas (deceased), Frank Douglas Jr (deceased), and John Douglas of Douglas; sisters Viola Jones (deceased), Louise Colquitt of Ambrose, Daisy Douglas of Brandon, Florida, Annie Harris of Tampa, Florida, and Arrena Lewis of Douglas; brothers-in-law Charles Denning, Alfonzo Denning, and Ricky Denning of Denton; sisters-in-law Janice (Howard) Cornelius of Denton and Levina (Stanley) Godwin of Hazlehurst; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service took place on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Douglas. Interment followed in the Denton Cemetery.
