At the Coffee High track awards banquet, junior Katie Merritt and senior Chris Stafford earned the high point awards for the women’s and men’s teams, respectively. Katie tallied 117.25 points this season while Stafford notched 108.75 points for the men.

 

 

Katie was the region champion in the 800 meters, 1600 meters, and 3200 meters. She earned a berth in the state meet in Columbus in the 1600 and 3200 meters, where she placed 10th in the 1600 and eighth in the 3200. She holds the school record for these events as well.

 

 

Chris has scored 217.75 points over his career. He was the region champion in the long jump and triple jump. At the state meet, he placed fifth in the triple jump, scoring four points for CHS. He has scored seven points in his career at state.

 

 

The Utility Award went to Senior Dedrick Flagg. Dedrick showed that he had the ability to perform at a high level in any track event. 

 

 

The Coaches Awards went to Brayden Bailey and Keilona “Lulu” Bennett. Brayden is a senior who demonstrated a willingness to work hard toward her goals. She has secured a track scholarship to Augusta State University to run cross country and track. Lulu was awarded for her ability to recover and perform at a high level in the region track meet.

 

For the men, Senior Travis Adams was awarded for his improvement throughout this past season dropping four seconds off his personal record. Rhett Robinson showed the ability to take advantage of an opportunity to compete in the 4X800 meter relay as an alternate. He has a willingness to try new things and perform to the best of his ability. 

 

 

Field Events awards went to Tiara Fletcher for the most points in discus. Senior Emarion Graham threw the discus and secured the most points for the Trojans this past season. 

 

 

Running Events award went to Iyani Johnson for running the short relays and 200 meter dash scoring 34 points. Nevin Swanson was awarded the Running Events for the males by scoring 61 points in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter run.
