On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the City of Alma Police Department received a call in reference to a male lying in the yard unresponsive. Alma Police Officers responded to the location and determined the male was deceased upon arrival. Alma-Bacon County Crime Suppression Unit was called to investigate the death.
Preliminary investigation determined that the victim, Willie Williams, 67, of Sanford, Fla., had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. After receiving many tips from the community, CSU was able to follow those leads that led to an arrest. CSU arrested and charged Danta Isaiah Knox, 18, of Alma, with felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of felony (two counts), and tampering with evidence.
This is still an active and ongoing investigation. Additional charges and details may become available as the investigation continues.
