To spread the news of Douglas’ much anticipated compressed natural gas fueling station, the City of Douglas participated as an exhibitor at the annual Georgia Municipal Association Convention held in Savannah, Georgia, June 21 and 22.
“We experienced a very positive response to our booth,” says Mike Hudson, Gas/Water/Wastewater Director. “At the convention, we educated other city officials about Douglas’ CNG fueling station that will open in October this year. People were really responsive and interested in how they can bring this concept for alternative fuel to their cities.”
Inside the booth, attendees could check out the recently purchased natural gas vehicle, gather information about natural gas vehicles, and hear about the positive impact of tourism and festivals in Douglas.
Construction of the CNG fueling station is on track and the fueling station is scheduled to open in October of this year. Each week, citizens can drive by the site area, located on Pope Drive, and see the progress as it is completed. Along with the construction of the CNG fueling station, a public relations campaign is underway to educate and to search for more potential fleet customers.
