Lou Annie McKinnon Tanner, age 91 of Douglas, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Shady Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Tanner was born December 2, 1922, in Douglas to the late Dennis McKinnon and Annie Gillispie McKinnon.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Tanner Bowen of Douglas; stepson, William D. Tanner of Moore, SC; grandson, Samuel Mark Bowen of Douglas; brother, Henry Lloyd McKinnon of Douglas; sister, Mozelle Fish of Douglas; special niece, Donna O’Berry of Blackshear, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Tanner; infant son, McCoy Tanner; two sisters, Hazel Sims and Etheal McKinnon; and two brothers, Jessie McKinnon and Alfred McKinnon.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Lie in state from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Southview Church of God with Rev. Hilton Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Reedy Branch Church Cemetery. Music is furnished for the service by the congregation, “Amazing Grace” and “Old Rugged Cross” with Joyce Roberts playing the piano.
Active pallbearers are Wesley Britton, Andy Sims, William Sims, Julius Busby, Mickey Mancil, and Philip Collier.
