The Coffee County Historical Society (CCHS) would like to invite everyone to attend the reopening of the Heritage Station Museum and Civil War Sesquicentennial program to honor Mr. Curtis Farrar’s donation of Civil War memorabilia to Heritage Station Museum. The program will begin Monday, August 4, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the museum, which is located at 219 W. Ward Street.

“Coffee County Historical Society members have been busy getting the museum ready for this event,” says Carol Morgan, President of the Coffee County Historical Society. “We are currently working on developing a research area and inventorying items at the museum.”

The Heritage Station Museum, once an old railroad depot, originally opened in 1999. The museum features a variety of permanent exhibits commemorating local history.

The Coffee County Historical Society will manage Heritage Station Museum, coordinate programs, and conduct other history related initiatives as a way to preserve local history.

An entire wing of the museum is dedicated to the railroad history of Douglas and Coffee County.

The Whistle Stop Souvenir Shop is located inside the museum and
displays locally made and grown productsfor visitors to purchase.

The Historical Society is looking for volunteers to help with the operation of
the museum as well as assist with other projects.

The hours Heritage Station Museum will be now open to the public are as
follows:

Thursday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Group tours can be scheduled by appointment.
