Edward G. “E.G.” McKinnon, Jr., age 83 of Douglas passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. McKinnon was born June 21, 1931, in Douglas to the late Edward Grady McKinnon, Sr. and Estelle McDonald McKinnon.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Clement McKinnon of Douglas; two sons, Lance McKinnon of Broxton and Eddie McKinnon of Willacoochee; two daughters, Debra Burkett of West Green and Therese Paulk of Wray; four brothers, Henry McKinnon of Pearson, Mark McKinnon of Moultrie, Tommy McKinnon of Albany, and Jimmy McKinnon of St. Petersburg, FL; two sisters, Veronica Hope of Denton, TX and Mareice Cook of Albany; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Friday, July 25.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at McKinnon Family Cemetery. Music is furnished for the service by Michael Johnson, “I Saw The Light”, “Build My Mansion”, CD, “When I Get To Where I’m Going”, Michael Johnson, “Walk With Me”, and congregation, “Amazing Grace,” with Michael Johnson playing the piano. Active pallbearers are Eddie McKinnon, Lance McKinnon, Hugh Paulk, Jr. Burkett, Jeb McKinnon, and Ben Paulk.
Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
