Ina Lou Fussell, age 93 of Axson, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Fussell was born February 20, 1921, in Douglas to the late Austin Irwin Hand and Annie Jane Blanton Hand.
Survivors include her son, Edward (Simmeon) Gillis of Axson; five grandchildren, Ashley (Debra) Gillis, Andy (Lisa) Gillis, Lynda Gillis, Cleon (Kim) Gillis, and Diane Gillis (Stacey) Roberson; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two step daughters, Alice Ward and Earnestine (Courtland) Rizor; eight step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Cleon Arthur Gillis and Dennis Fussell; son, Freddie Edsel Gillis; and step daughter, Mary Jeanine (Jean) Fussell Paulk.
Visitation was held Friday, July 25, 2014.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Stokesville Baptist Church, with Rev. Bob Pierce and Rev. Edgar Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at Stokesville Baptist Church Cemetery. Music is furnished for the service by Kay Pierce, “To God Be The Glory”, Billy and Becky Musgrove, “I’ve Got More To Go To Heaven For”, and Bonnie, Brandon, and Vanese Musgrove, “Look What I Traded For A Mansion,”with Patty Spivey playing the piano.
Active pallbearers are Ashley Gillis, Andy Gillis, Logan, Gillis, Cleon Gillis, Talmadge Sasser, and Keith Rizor. Honorary pallbearers are women members of Stokesville Baptist Church and special friends, Irene Sweat, Elva Tanner Butler, Jane Tanner Vincent, Carll Solvzng, Devote Mizell, Margaret Grantham, and Rosemary Olliff.
