Mrs. Rena McKinnon Daniels, age 82 of Pearson, passed away at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas after a brief illness. Mrs. Daniels was born in Douglas April 7, 1932, to the late Fred McKinnon and Miriam Joiner McKinnon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lee Daniels.
Mrs. Daniels is survived by two sons, Johnny (Maxine) Daniels of Pearson and Greg (Jean) Daniels of Willacoochee; three sisters, Mary Campbell of Douglas, Verchel McClendon of Willacoochee, and Vondeal Matthews of Enola, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Diane Stewart of Douglas, Jonathan Daniels of Pearson, and Jennifer Key of Douglas; eight great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Saturday, August 2.
Funeral services for Mrs. Daniels were held Sunday, August 3, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. Hardy Crosby officiating. Music for the service was furnished by Logan McCrea playing the guitar and singing “Precious Memories,” Allen Jewell singing, “I Won’t Have To Worry Anymore,” with CD backup, and “Amazing Grace,” with Iris McElhaney at the piano.
Active pallbearers were Johnny E. Daniels, Greg Daniels, Johathan L. Daniels, Dossen J Pate, Vincent L. Daniels and Jamie Stewart. Interment followed at Sunny Side Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
