Monroe Bagley, age 75 of Nicholls, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at St. Josephs Hospital in Savannah following an extended illness. Mr. Bagley was born October 21, 1938, in Millwood to the late O’Steen Colonial Bagley and Mary Edna Smith Bagley.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Pearl Hersey Bagley of Nicholls; son, Timothy Monroe and (Sonya) Bagley of Douglas; five brothers, Elgrean Bagley of Millwood, Austin Bagley of Tuscaloosa, AL, Tony Bagley of Sparks, Teddy Bagley of Millwood, and Bibbie Bagley of Douglas; three sisters, Bonnie Jean Fearington of Yorba Linda, CA, Edna Cloteen O’Steen and Katrina White, both of Nicholls; five grandchildren, Andrew Timothy Bagley, Natalie Marie Fender, Blakley Nathan Fender, Chase Avery Bagley, and Caleb Aaron Bagley; one aunt, Virgil Verity of Henderson, NV; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, Bennie Bagley.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 8, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. Clyde Purvis and Rev. James Warren Steed officiating. Interment will follow at Roxie Mae Church Cemetery.
Music is furnished for the service by Diane Chambliss and Sonya Bagley, with Diane Chambliss playing the piano.
Active pallbearers are Cody Tucker, Mark Bagley, Jason Bagley, Greg White, Toshawn O’Steen, Brian Hersey and Chad Hersey.
