James Woods, age 78 of Douglas, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Woods was born October 9,1936, in Douglas to the late William Riley Woods and Devada Bagley Woods. He was a Korea War veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Foskey Woods of Douglas; three daughters, Debbie Woods, Cathy (Steve) Phillips, and Sheryl (John) Adams all of Douglas; son, David (Billie Kaye) Woods of Douglas; ten grandchildren, Christy Nipper, Wendy Nipper Giddens, Anthony Nipper, Lauren Phillips, Brooke Dancy, Bryan Vickers, Neil Floyd, II, Stuart Floyd, Ashley Woods, and Kimberly Woods; seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, George Woods, and two sisters, Cecile Woods and Earnie Mae (Dutch) Woods.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Deems, Rev. Hilton Martin, Bishop Ashley Woods and Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating. Interment will follow at Satilla Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers are Bishop Ashley Woods, Bryan Vickers, Stuart Floyd, Anthony Nipper, Tony Foskey, Steve Foskey, and Kenny Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Brigmond, Joe Minter, Bobby Meeks, Larry Hutchison, Shady Acres Employees (Connie Clements, Leighann Reardean, Lee Kidd, Darius Williams, Maria Cudd, Jennifer Hall, Jalen Walker, Casey Edenfield, Nancy Burkett, Jessica Mobley, and Leslie Teston).
