Mary Wilkerson, age 76, of Douglas, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Wilkerson was born January 19, 1938, in Willacoochee to the late Henry Wilkerson and Maude Floyd Wilkerson. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church of Douglas. She retired from SunTrust Bank with 34 years of service.

Survivors include her sister, Mattie Wilkerson of Douglas; nine nieces and nephews, Robert (Viveca) Parker of Glasco, KY, David Randall Parker of Ft. Pierce, FL, John Daniel (Heather) Parker of Ft. Pierce, FL, Joan Lorraine (David) Roberts of Ft. Pierce, FL, Stephen Austin (Kathy) Wilkerson of Axson, Melinda (Stacy) Phillips of Douglas, Marsha Carol (Wade) Purvis of Douglas, Traci Lynn (Shane) Tawzer of Tifton, and Jason Emmett Wilkerson of Douglas; thirteen great nieces and nephews, Amy Roberts Jones of Ft. Pierce, FL, Kelley Roberts Smith of Vero Beach, FL, Michael Wilkerson of Axson, Jessica Wilkerson of Douglas, Courtney Grimes White of Axson, Austin Grimes of Axson, Brian Ray Bush of Douglas, Denton Phillips of Douglas, Keller Phillips of Douglas, Elisa Purvis of Douglas, Elana Purvis of Douglas, Kinsley Tawzer of Tifton, and Jonathon Thomas Parker of Ft. Pierce, FL; seven great-great nieces and nephews, Taylor Jones of Ft. Pierce, FL, Andy Jones of Ft. Pierce, FL, Max Smith of Vero Beach, FL, Natalie Smith of Vero Beach, FL, Brianna Bush of Douglas, Kaegan Bush of Douglas, and Gage White of Axson; sister-in-law, Esther Wilkerson of Douglas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Maude Wilkerson; sister, Minnie Wilkerson Parker, and two brothers, Emmett Wilkerson and Virgil Wilkerson.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Mora Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Austin Grimes, Michael Wilkerson, Jason Wilkerson, Brian Bush, Wade Purvis, and Stephen Wilkerson.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
