Downtown restaurant robbed at gunpoint

Douglas Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred late Monday at a local downtown restaurant.

Officials state that officers responded to the Peking House restaurant on South Madison Ave. Monday night after receiving a report of an armed robbery which had just taken place.

The victims told authorities that two men entered the business brandishing handguns. While one of the offenders held a restaurant employee at gunpoint, the other took cash from the register, along with a money bag that was located in the same vicinity. The men fled the scene and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police offcials are asking anyone who may have information pertaining to the incident to contact the police department at (912) 384-2222. The city’s anonymous tip line can be accessed by calling (912) 260-3600.

    If these store owners and citizens would carry guns themselves and when these criminals attack…. shoot back, it would stop alot of this!
