Douglas Police Officer Larry Carter, who suffered a gunshot wound while attempting to chase an alleged armed robber in July, was commended Monday during the regular meeting of the Douglas City Commission.
Carter was presented with the Purple Heart award for his bravery demonstrated on July 10, 2014. While in the line of duty, he was shot and wounded by a hostile offender while serving with C Squad of the Douglas Police Department.
Officer Carter is the first officer within the City of Douglas’ history to receive this award.
