The Coffee County community stepped up once again over the weekend, delivering Coffee High junior Malik Sparkman another opportunity to fulfill one his life’s wishes.
On Saturday, members of the AirEvac team took Malik for a helicopter ride over the county.
Here is a brief summary of how it all went down, courtesy of Russell Flanagan at Coffee County Ga. Police Scanner on Facebook.
“It all started when Roy and Jessica Long of Douglas saw that Malik wanted to fly, so they mentioned it to Ron and Stephanie Vick asking if they could help. Stephanie called her boss, Scott Moseley, and he made several calls and e-mails until he finally got it approved.
Malik’s flight was originally set for last Saturday, but he had to be put in Coffee Regional Medical Center on that Friday night and didn’t get out until Saturday. As he was getting out, AirEvac got a call to fly someone out to Atlanta. By the time they got back, it began to rain and it was called off and rescheduled.
Special thanks goes to the follow people for making this happen: Ron and Stephanie Vick, Roy and Jessica Long, AirEvac Program Director Scott Moseley, pilot Rod Heim, and flight nurse Billy Inman.”
