Roy Merritt, age 75, of Ambrose, GA passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Coffee Regional Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. Merritt was born November 15, 1939 in Ambrose, GA to the late Walter Merritt and Minnie Mae Vickers Merritt.

Mr. Merritt is survived by his to sons: Michael (Gail) Merritt of Douglas, Ga and Walter Lamar (Robbie Lynn) Merritt of Ambrose, GA; two step-sons: Jerome (Vickie) Harrell and Wayne (Tina) Harrell both of Ambrose, GA; one daughter, Patsy (Miles) Burkett of Douglas, GA; one sister: Elizabeth Villyard of Gainesville, GA; seven grandchildren: Ross Merritt, Fred Merritt, Brittany Phillips, Brandi Merritt, J. R. Harrell, Brandon Harrell, Danielle Harrell, three step-grandchildren, John Railey , Heather and Hannah Railey and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 6 to 9 PM at Sims Funeral Home. Mr. Merritt will lie-in-state on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Wray Holiness Baptist Church from 1 pm until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM. Rev. Steve Willingham, Rev. Daniel Smith and Rev. Salas Carver will be officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery, Ambrose, GA.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
