Westside Elementary School hosted Family Math Night: Countdown to Christmas on December 11.
Academic Coach Kim Caves started off the night’s activities by sharing information with parents about the upcoming Georgia Milestones Assessment that will be replacing the CRCT. To give parents a taste of current math standards, Ms. Caves challenged parents to compete against students in solving constructed-response math problems.
Next, kindergarten students wowed the crowd with songs and chants. At the end of the presentation, parents received math handouts and had the opportunity to have their child’s picture taken with Santa. Free cocoa, cookies, and candy canes were served to all in attendance.
Special thanks to Coffee County Tax Commissioner Shanda Henderson, Coffee Chrysler, and Harvey’s Supermarket for donating funds to purchase prizes and refreshments for this event.
