Annual Shop With a Cop helps over 40 families

Over 100 area children will be guaranteed to have a very merry Christmas this year thanks to the annual Shop With a Cop event.

One hundred twelve children from 43 families were treated Thursday evening to a shopping spree at K-Mart, escorted by public safety officials from the Broxton Police Department, Coffee County Fire Department, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Coffee Regional Emergency Medical Services, Douglas Fire Department, Douglas Police Department, Georgia Pardons and Paroles, and Georgia State Patrol.

This is the 18th year of the program, which assists low-income familes during the Christmas season.

Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten expressed his gratitude to the merchants and individuals who donated to the program.
