Dorothy Harper, age 85, of Ambrose, GA passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Harper was born on November 13, 1929, in Colquitt, GA to the late Nathan Harper and Lola Thompson Harper.

Survivors include: her husband, Gerald Mitchell Harper of Ambrose, GA; brother, Donnie (Sue) Harper of Douglas, GA; three sisters, Margie Solomon of Douglas, GA; Joanne (Eugene) Ridley of Dalton, GA, and Carolyn Hutcheson (Companion Roy Bland) of Douglas, GA; mother-in-law, Ludell Harper of Douglas, GA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Johnson and four brothers, Edward Harper, Hubert Harper, Bobby Harper, and Buck Harper.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Courson officiating. Music is furnished for the service by Glenda Courson with Al Wayne Hulsey playing the piano. Active Pallbearers are: Neil Ridley, Travis McKinnon, Wade Taylor, Ashton Harper, Rodney Courson, Sr., and Dennis Ridley. Honorary Pallbearers are: Wal-Mart Friends and Co Workers, Oren and Barbara Lee, and Church Members of Bethel. Interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
