Two Douglas residents were arrested Saturday afternoon following a brutal domestic fight involving a knife.

Douglas police responded to 509 S. College Ave. just before 4 p.m. Saturday after receiving a 911 hang-up call. While officers were en route to the scene, they were advised by 911 operators the call was now a domestic problem in progress and that one offender possessed a weapon.

Once authorities arrived at the location, they spoke with 21-year-old Aaron Bernard Jackson, IV, who stated he and another individual were arguing about their children. Jackson told authorities the other person, identified as 25-year-old Shaina Williams, began slapping him, so he pushed her away from him and against a kitchen sink. He went on to tell police that Williams then grabbed a knife and was able to cut his neck, before grabbing and throwing other random objects at him.

Williams told authorities that Jackson has started the physical altercation by slapping her, and that she had struck him, as well. She added that Jackson took her phone while she was attempting to call 911.

Jackson denied hospital treatment for his injuries at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, both Jackson and Williams will face several criminal charges.

Jackson was charged with one count of simple battery under the Family Violence Act, along with one count of hindering a person from making an emergency call. Williams will face charges of one count of third degree cruelty to children and one count of aggravated assault for her alleged role in the incident.
