Mr. Charles Edward Lewis, Age 90, of Douglas, GA passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Lewis was born, July 16, 1924, in Broxton, GA to the late Henry F. Lewis and Dora Merritt Lewis. He was a native of Coffee County, a Veteran of WW II Army Air Corp, a member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church, and was Owner and Operator of Charles E. Lewis Construction. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Selis English Lewis and Son, Danny D. Lewis.
He is survived by his sons: Ronnie (Janice) Lewis and Chris (Margaret) Lewis; daughter-in-law, JoAnne R. Lewis;one granddaughter, Mendi (Mark) L. Skipper, one step-granddaughter, Erin Morgan, seven grandsons, Ron (Julie Brooke) Lewis, Henry Lewis, Mitch (Haley) Lewis, Chase (Kristin) Lewis, Morgan Lewis, Ashton Lewis, Matt Lewis, one step-grandson, Lane Morgan and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 Pm at Sims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Den Weniger officiating. Entombment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.
