Mr. Benny Lindsey Whittington, age 65, of Douglas passed away early Saturday morning, January 10, 2015, at the Mayo Clinic, in Jacksonville, Florida, following a short illness. He was born October 15, 1949 to the late Benny Cornelius Whittington and the late Hazel Louise Ross Whittington.

Mr. Whittington, a native of Hartford, Alabama, was a Truck Driver for Wal-Mart for 25 years. He had been living in the Coffee County area for several years. Mr. Whittington was an active member of the Covenant Christian Church.

Survivors Include: His Wife: Mitzi Swain Whittington of Douglas, Ga. 1 Son: Tolton Whittington of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Daughter: Kristy (David) Sheffield of Douglas, Ga.; 3 Sisters: Sherry Mims of Geneva, Alabama, Theresa Mathis, and Mary Ortagus, both of St. Augustine, Florida.; 3 Brothers: Bobby Herring, and Jon Herring, both of St. Augustine, Florida, and Carey Herring of Indianapolis, Indiana. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives.

Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at 11:00 A. M., at the Covenant Christian Church, with Rev. Gregory Pope officiating. The Inurnment will follow at a later date. The family will begin receiving friends Tuesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Covenant Church.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
