Mr. Jewel Clifton Martin, age 92, of Broxton in the Pridgen Community, passed away Thursday , January 15, 2015, at the Shady Acres Health & Rehabilitation Center, following a short illness. He was born July 16, 1922 to the late Willie Elbert Martin and the late Runa Mae Carr Martin.

Mr. Martin, a native of Dodge County, had lived in the Pridgen Community for many years. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, and he had retired after 20 plus years of active service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emogene Sanders Martin, and 4 Brothers, Elbert Martin, James Martin, Lee Martin, and Clem Martin. Mr. Martin was a member of the Pridgen Baptist Church.

Survivors include: His Wife: Allie Jane Martin of Broxton, Ga.; 1 Daughter: Liz Martin (Greg) Yates of Broxton, Ga.; 2 Sons: Mike Martin of Monroe, Ga., and Ivey Martin of Spanaway, Washington. 8 Grandchildren, 2 Step-Grandchildren, and 18 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 10:00 A. M., at the Pridgen Baptist Church, with Dr. Stephen Hart officiating. The Interment followed in the Pridgen Cemetery, with full military rites, including Firing Squad, Casket Bearers, Flag Detail, and Bugler being presented by Personnel from Ft. Stewart Army Base of Hinesville, Georgia. Active Pallbearers at the Church were: Brian Martin, Brian Martin, Jr., John Martin, Steve Martin, Justin Martin-Bailey, and Brandon Fussell. Special Musical Selections, “I Shall Not Be Moved”, was presented as a Congregational Hymn, led by Terry Thurman, with the Pianist, Dawn Tarrant, and the Guitarist, Stanley Williams, and “Amazing Grace”, was rendered acappela by Meagan Martin. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Dawn Tarrant.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
