Douglas to host natural gas vehicle symposium March 17 & 18

The City of Douglas Natural Gas Department, along the Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia, is busy preparing for Douglas’ first Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Symposium. The symposium will be held March 17 &18, 2015 at Central Square Complex located in downtown Douglas.

A welcome reception sponsored by the Douglas-Coffee County Economic Development Authority, will be held Tuesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. Day two of the symposium will begin at 8:45 a.m. and will consist of general sessions on topics such as CNG vehicles & conversions, legislation, regulations, rebates and incentives, and a Q & A lunch panel with City of Douglas officials and partners; Lewis Construction and Waste Industries. A tour of the Douglas CNG facility is also scheduled for that afternoon.

“We are looking forward to presenting some informative and interesting topics to other government officials and business leaders across our area,” says Mike Hudson, Natural Gas Department Director.

The purpose of the Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Symposium will be to educate and present an opportunity to learn the best approaches and solutions to using natural gas as an alternative fuel. This symposium will feature strategies for both automotive and commercial vehicles from key operators, driving the industry forward. Compressed Natural
Gas can be used in the place of gasoline, diesel fuel and propane/LPG. It is a domestic energy supply with 98% of its supply being produced in North America and is cleaner for the environment. Any existing gasoline vehicle can be converted to a dual-fuel (gasoline/CNG) vehicle.

Sponsorships, exhibitors, and attendees are being sought for the symposium. Sponsorship packages range from $500-$1500. Exhibitor space is available beginning at $100 for a 10X10 space. Attendee registration is now open-advance registration is $75 with a special rate for multiple attendees from the same organization.
