Mary Irvine Spivey Merritt, age 69, of Nicholls, GA passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Merritt was born on December 23, 1945, in Douglas, GA to the late James Ervin Spivey and Mary Lillian Anderson Spivey.

Survivors include: her daughter, Judy (Stevie Cothern) Merritt of Douglas, GA; stepson, Dewayne (Tonya) Spivey of Alma, GA; stepdaughter, Cindy Sheffield of Indiana; two grandchildren, Katie Francis of Nicholls, GA and Jared Francis of Nicholls, GA; four sisters, Ella Mae Stone of Nicholls, GA, Vivian Castro of Douglas, GA, Shirley Hollinger of Tifton, GA, and Kathy Reliford of Pearson, GA; three brothers, Lewis Spivey of Douglas, GA, James Spivey of Nicholls, GA, and Junior Ray Spivey of Booneville, MS; six step grandchildren, Josh Sheffield, Kimberly Sheffield, Amy Hall, Dylan Anderson, Zachary Kirkland, and Crystal Stone; great grandchild, Heavye Francis; step great grandchild, Aiden Altman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elie Merritt.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
