Westside hosted “Family Writing Night: Super Powered Writers” on February 19.

Those in attendance enjoyed songs performed by second grade super writers, learned about the writing components of the Georgia Milestones (new state assessment), and had the pleasure of meeting a real writing super hero, Captain Penmanship (AKA First Grade Teacher, Trent Bennett).

In addition, fifth grade students were presented with their published books they created under the guidance of fifth grade teacher, Ms. April Dockery. Faculty members and students were encouraged to dress up as a super writing hero for this event, and to come up with a writing super power. Some super hero writers in attendance included “The Undercover Adjective” and “Iron Man Writer”.

An educational and fun time was had by all in attendance.
