Col. James F. Prewett, age 93, of Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Prewett was born on July 3, 1921, in Memphis, TN to the late James Prewett and Sarah Ellen Prewett.

Col. Prewett was a veteran of WWII and Korea War having served in the US Army.

Survivors include: his three daughters, Judi (Dennis) Worrell of Douglas, GA, Jeri Hansom of Memphis, TN, and Barbara (George) Emmons of Athens, AL; son, Tom (Sydney) Prewett of Marietta, GA; sixteen grandchildren, Ryan McDaniel, Jamie McDaniel, Emily Tyre, Jared Wood, Sara Wood, Tom Hansom, Jackie Hansom, Kevin Hansom, Brad Emmons, Shirley Emmons, Chris Prewett, Jenette Prewett, Carie Hall, Kelli Prewett, Jill Szenasi, and Judi Tomich; six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Prewett and son, Larry Prewett.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with Father Stephen Norris officiating. Interment will follow at St. Andrews Episcopal Church Columbarium at a later date.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
