Bikes, Blues and BBQ is this weekend!

The Bikes, Blues, and BBQ Festival will be held in Douglas Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11. This outdoor event will feature all types of event vendors relating to arts & crafts, food, motorcycles, BBQ, aviation and more. Activities will include a BBQ competition, the NAPA/Brooks Auto Car Show, motorcycle show, poker run, displays of vintage aircraft, and live blues bands under the sun and stars.

Festivities will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the Douglas Municipal Gene Chambers Airport on 441 South. General vendors, arts & craft vendors, and food vendors will be eager to meet participants as they enjoy the festivities. A Nascar simulator, zip-line, and other activities will be available for enjoyment. The WWII Flight Training Museum will be open both days for the public to step back in time to World War II when cadets were training on the grounds. Attendees will also be able to see the Warbirds on display at the Vintage and General Aviation Aircraft exhibit Friday and Saturday. A full entertainment lineup will begin at 6 p.m., as blues music fills the air until 10:30 p.m.

The entertainment lineup on Friday night will be Jarekus Singleton from 6 6 to 7p.m., followed by Samantha Fish at 7:30 p.m. To close the night, headliner Albert Castiglia will be onstage at 9:15 p.m.

On Saturday, smoke will fill the air as the Douglas BBQ Cook-off and the Cooking for Fun Competition begins before the festival opens to the public at 9 a.m.

Teams from all over Georgia will be competing in the first GBA sanctioned cook-off. Stop by and visit with the teams as they compete to cook pork loin, pulled pork and ribs.

Saturday will offer a full day of exciting events beginning at 9 a.m. with the first bike out for the Poker Run. Poker Run registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Poker Run hands are $10, with each additional hand being $5 per hand. Prizes will include cash for 1st place in each category, trophies and event shirts.

While the Poker Run is taking place, there will also be a motorcycle show and motorcycle games in the motorcycle area. Registration for the motorcycle show will be from 8 a.m. to noon and is free to all entries. Judging begins at 1 p.m., with winners being announced at 4 p.m. from the Blues Entertainment stage. Prizes will include cash for 1st place in each category, trophies and event shirts.

Don’t miss your chance to purchase a 50/50 raffle tickets. Tickets for the 50/50 drawing will be $1 each or six tickets for $5 and can be purchased at the tent located in the motorcycle show area or from festival volunteers.

On Saturday, entertainment will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the One Way Out band. Daddy Mack’s Blues Band will perform at 11 a.m., followed by the EG Kight Band at 12:30 p.m. Attendees will not want to miss the Saturday headliner, The Victor Wainwright Band on stage at 2:15 p.m. The Danny’s Pizza and Southern Eagle Brews Tent will be open at 10 a.m. for persons 21 years of age and older.

General gate admission is $5 per person, $3 with military ID and 12 & under free.
