Charles Joe Polk, Sr., age 86, of Douglas, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Polk was born on March 1, 1929, in Sandersville, GA to the late Josiah Isaac Polk and Sarah Lucetta Jenkins Polk.

Survivors include: his sons, James M. (Lynn) Polk of Douglas, GA and Joe (Cheryl) Polk, Jr of Douglas, GA; daughter, Mary Charmaine Polk of Douglas, GA; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; three sister-in-laws; Pat Polk, Patsy Polk, and Barbara Polk all of Douglas, GA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Belle Polk, a daughter, April Lucetta Polk, four brothers, Billy Polk, Bubba Polk, Dan Polk, and Frank Polk, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Polk.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Vernon and Rev. Carl McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Hill Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
