This Friday, May 15, Coffee Middle School will host “Be Fit Be Cool,” as part of a Childhood Obesity Awareness Campaign and is presented by the American Association of Physicians of India (AAPI) in association with Houston Healthcare. It will be a day full of fun and activities including a poster contest, a motivational speaker, Zumba, a Walk-a-Thon, t-shirt giveaways, and door prizes.
All staff and students will be able to participate throughout the day. Activities will begin that morning and continue until 3:10 on Friday. Principal Sherri Berry is collaborating with Dr. Adams and Dr. Jonnalagadda to offer this program to encourage the youth to be fit and healthy. Statistics show that one-third of America’s children are obese or overweight before their fifth birthday.
Coffee Middle School is located at 901 Connector 206 North in Douglas. For more information contact the school at (912) 720-1011.
