The Douglas Area Employer Committee is offering a Lunch & Learn for employers focusing on understanding criminal histories of potential employees.  The class will be held Wednesday, June 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Atrium Event Center in downtown Douglas.

Sergeant Tim Allmond with the Professional Standards and Training Division of the City of Douglas Police Department will be leading the class.

Some topics to be covered in the class will include how to read a criminal history and understanding dispositions, items that will not be covered on a standard history for employment, types of criminal histories, charges and dispositions to look for, candidate notification requirements for rejection based on criminal history information, and why you should run histories on candidates.

The cost is $15 including lunch.  For more information or to register for the class, contact Andrea Taylor at the Chamber of Commerce at (912) 384-1873.
