Auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of Aladdin will be held at South Georgia State College in Peterson Hall on Monday, June 15. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the audition will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Registration forms can be filled out prior to or on June 15. Forms will be available at auditions or can be picked up in Richey Hall, room 108, prior to auditions.

All students entering grades 1-12 in the fall are welcome and encouraged to audition, but only 50-60 roles are available. No advance preparation is necessary. In addition to the 50-60 on-stage roles, student assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. Those auditioning should arrive no later than 9:40 a.m. with paperwork completed (earlier if necessary) and plan to stay for the full two-hour audition. Some of the cast members will need to stay for a rehearsal immediately following.

The roles for the show include Aladdin and his mother; the Princess Dory and her father, the Sultan; along with his adviser the Grand Vizier; the keeper of the Book of Answers; Dinazade and her sister Scheherazade; the Mysterious One; some mischievous Genies; a stubborn Donkey; a spunky Goat; scheming Cassim; Ali Baba; Sinbad and his Sailors; wise-cracking Palm Trees and fleet-footed Camels; a Cave of Wonders; Vagabonds; and even a pack of lost Penguins.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. each day. For more information on Missoula Children’s Theatre, please visit mctinc.org.

Aladdin will be presented on June 20 in SGSC’s Peterson Hall. The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in Douglas is brought to you by the Coffee Alliance for the Arts.
