George Martin Sears, age 66, of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Sears was born on December 12, 1948, in Cascade, ID to the late Henry S. Sears and Nell E. Tanner Sears.

Mr. Sears was a veteran of Vietnam having served in the US Marine Corps. He received medals for National Defense Service, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.

Survivors include: his wife, Robby Elaine Gibson Sears of Douglas, GA; three sons, Gerald Barnes, Jr. of Montana, William L. Barnes of St. Augustine, FL, and Johnathan Carver of Macon, GA; two daughters, Shannon Deann (Felix) Ruiz of Douglas, GA and Cheryl L. (Danny) Cobb of Americus, GA; two sisters, Alice Sears of Douglas, GA and Linda Outlaw of Douglas, GA; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Carver, Doyle Adams, and Shannon Ruiz officiating. Interment will follow at Tanner Church Cemetery with personnel from US Marine Corp performing military honors.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
