Mr. Allen James Purvis, age 72, of Douglas passed away Wednesday morning, July 8, 2015, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born September 18, 1942 to the late Alton Purvis and the late Catherine Vernell Moody Purvis.
Mr. Purvis, a native of Coffee County, was a truck driver. He was preceded in death by a son, Allen James Purvis, Jr., and a Brother, Dayne Purvis.
Survivors include: 2 Sons: James Andrew “Andy” Purvis of Ambrose, Ga., and Randall Allen “Randy” Purvis of Statesboro, Ga. His Sons’ Mother: Carolyn Scott Purvis of Douglas, Ga.; Siblings: Maudine (Joe) Wright ; Eulene (Benny) Peterson ; Annelle (Loran) Shrouder ; Dale (Wendell) Batten, all of Douglas, Ga.; 2 Grandchildren: Emily Anne Purvis, and James Andrew “Drew” Purvis, Jr., both of Ambrose, Ga.; Special Niece & Care Giver: Cindy Malphus Johnson of Douglas, Ga.; Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives.
Funeral Services will be Friday, July 10, 2015, at 11:00 A. M., at the Southview Church of God, with Rev. Gerald Gardner and Rev. Hilton Martin officiating. The Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends Thursday evening from 6: 00 to 9:00 P. M., at Ricketson Funeral Home.
