Mrs. Helen Grace Phillips Cross, age 101, formerly of Broxton, GA passed away at her daughter’s home in Warner Robins, GA on Thursday, July 9, 2015 following a brief illness. Mrs. Cross was born on November 5, 1913, in Monticello, GA to the late Paul Phillips and Genie Blackwell Phillips. She was a member of Broxton Baptist Church and a retired school teacher with the Coffee County Board of Education.
She is survived by her daughter: Helen Bruce Barnes of Warner Robins, GA; two grandsons: Jason (Amy) Barnes of Louisville, KY; Matthew (Sarah) Barnes of Warner Robins, GA; two great granddaughters: Kailey Grace Barnes and Kara Rene Barnes both of Warner Robins, GA; four step-sons: Thomas Kirkland of Douglas, GA; Rufus Kirkland of Statesboro, GA; Russell Kirkland of Douglas, GA and Charles Cross, Jr of Douglas GA; two-step daughters: Carol Gordon of Douglas, GA and Mary Burke of Baxley, GA; step-grandchildren and great grand-children, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Broxton Baptist Church in Broxton, GA with the Rev. Robert Wigley and Rev. Elick Bullington officiating, with Interment to follow at Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Eddie Rish, Marvin Wooten, Daniel Corbitt, Allen Guess, Danny O’Steen and Jamie Rowell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Sun Shiners Sunday School Class, United Christian Workers and Broxton Women’s Club.
