The Satilla Regional Library System held its Teddy Bear Picnic recently at the Douglas-Coffee County Public Library.
The program began with children getting a snack and drink and then sitting down with their teddy or other stuffed animal they brought to listen to stories. The children talked about their teddy bear or other stuffed animal they brought to the event, such as their names and characteristics about them.
Miss Julie Macomber, Children’s and Young Adult Librarian, read the poem Independence Day from the book The Three Bears Holiday Rhyme Book. The stories, Where’s My Teddy? by Jez Albourough, Happy Fourth of July by Alex Appleby, Beady Bear by Don Freeman, and Fourth of July Mice! by Bethany Roberts were read. The children learned more about the Fourth of July and about caring for their teddy bear/stuffed animal. All children received their own Fourth of July teddy bear in red, white, or blue, and snacks and beverages were served. Children and parents had a great time!
