South Georgia State College is excited to announce a groundbreaking ceremony at Davis Hall on the Douglas Campus signifying the start of renovations and renewal for the historic building. The ceremony will be held Wednesday, August 26, at 2:30 p.m. first in the Peterson Hall Art Gallery before moving outside.

Davis Hall, one of the initial three buildings of South Georgia College from 1906, originally served the college as a dormitory. Currently, it serves as one of the campus’s core academic spaces and houses the Division of Humanities. The renovation will help bring needed enhancements to the teaching and learning experiences for SGSC students, increase energy efficiency to help save costs for the institution, and provide new technologies while still maintaining the historical legacy of the building and campus.

The public is invited to help SGSC celebrate this special occasion. Parking will be available in front of Peterson Hall on Quincey Circle as well as in the Tanner Hall parking lot.

For more information, contact the Office of External Affairs at 912-260-4274.
