Leon Whitley, age 81, of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Whitley was born on February 4, 1934, in Alma, GA to the late Clifford Whitley and Sally Mae Clements Whitley.
Survivors include: his son, Danny Whitley of Nicholls, GA; daughter, Debra Whitley of Tallahassee, FL; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Daniel Whitley of Maggie Valley, NC; two sisters, Rachael Taylor and Linda Louise Greene both of Douglas, GA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife, Darnell Daniel Whitley and son, Michael Leon Whitley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. John Carver officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Church Cemetery.
