The City of Douglas has received a 2015 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $325,176 from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), which will be utilized to improve aging and dilapidated sanitary sewer lines and alleviate problems associated with inadequate water service and fire protection.

One hundred and seventy six (176) individuals will benefit from these improvements. The area included in the grant is E. Cleveland, E. Sellers and E. Jackson Streets between N. Coweta and N. McDonald Avenues.

The grant award was presented to the City of Douglas by DCA Commissioner Camila Knowles and was accepted on behalf of the city by Donald Pate, Statewide Engineering Co., Community Development Director Dale Batten, Mayor James Dennis, DCA Commissioner Knowles, Judy Dennis, and Kimberly Hobbs, SGRC, at the awards ceremony on September 11 held at Jekyll Island.
